DAEMON Tools Lite is an optical media emulator program. It is used to back up data from any physical CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray into a computer as a virtual disc or ‘disc image’. These disc images can also be mounted on DAEMON Tools Lite’s virtual disc drives and can read them as if there was a physical disc on the drive. It is ideally used as a substitute to speed up reading of discs in a physical drive and to save up on battery power consumption. It is also ideal for notebook computers with no physical disc drives.
As a successor of Generic SafeDisc emulator, DAEMON Tools Lite supports a multitude of file formats for data backup purposes. It can backup and create .mds, .mdx, .bin, .cue, .iso, .ccd, and .cdi. It also supports files from other disc-burning programs. DAEMON Tools Lite can perform copies of discs even with advanced protection like SafeDisc, LaserLock, StarForce, SecuRom, Protect CD, and CDCOPS. It allows users to create a password to protect created disc images. It also allows you to split data and compress into separate volumes.
As a virtual disc drive emulator, DAEMON Tools Lite allows simultaneous mounting of up to 4 disc images. DAEMOON Tools Lite can read mounted disc images with file extensions such as .iso, .ccd, .mds, .mdx, .bin, .cue, .cdi, .bwt, .b5t, .b6t, .nrg, .isz, .pdi, and .mdf. The virtual disc drives can be customized. Drive letters can be changed, as well as the disc region.
