FBReader is an application that enables users to open and read their e-books. An e-book or electronic book is a publication in digital form that contains text and image data. E-book documents can be accessed using a dedicated program installed on a computer device such as a laptop, notebook, tablets, and even mobile phones. FB reader allows users to view e-books of various formats. This application supports Plain Text, FB2, HTML, CHM, PDB, ZTXT, OEB, EPUB, TCR, RTF, OEB, TXT, TAR, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2, non-DRM’ed mobipocket, OpenReader, Plucker format, and PalmDoc. FBReader is a free and open-sourced application that is readily available for download on the Internet.
FBReader has a simple interface that has contains two parts. First part is the toolbar section where users can find tools used in viewing their e-books. These include tools that allow users to browser pages, zoom in and out, add an e-book from the user’s computer, and view the user’s e-library. The next section is the e-book display area where users can read the text and view the graphics content of their e-books. Users can select between a full-page view and a split view where they can view two pages in the display area. The program has settings that allow users to view their e-books as a scroll where it can be browed by the up and down buttons or in a traditional book view where users turn pages from right to left. FBReader also has a built-in table of contents where users can view and select particular chapters in their e-books. In addition, the application allows users to rotate a page up to 270 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. The application’s options menu also allows users to change the language, edit the margins and formatting, and change text color and styles.
