SlingPlayer is an application made especially by Sling Media for its TV-streaming media device, SlingBox, in 2009. This program allows the users to watch TV on their devices be it a PC, tablet or a mobile phone. The SlingBox is a device connected to the TV source (e.g. cable box) which then allows the user with a SlingPlayer to watch TV from a remote device.
SlingPlayer can control Live TV with its Live Video Buffer feature allowing the user to control the video by pausing, rewinding or fast-forwarding. With online Sling accounts, any user may be able to access their SlingBox from anywhere as long as they have internet connection. SlingPlayer supports three types of TV viewing—windowed mode, docked on one side of the screen or even full screen.
SlingPlayer allows users to watch TV from a variety of different devices. PC and Mac users may access their SlingBox when connected to the web or when connected to a network. Users can also install SlingPlayer on their tablet or smartphone and be able to control their SlingBox from there using a 3G, 4G, or Wi-Fi connection. Aside from watching, rewinding, pausing, and fast-forwarding, users may schedule DVR recordings using the SlingPlayer. SlingPlayer also comes with a virtual remote control feature to allow users to change channels and settings from attached devices.
