Free Rip is a CD to MP3 converter released in 2007. This program allows users to convert music files from their CDs to audio files like MP3, WMA, WAV or even to lossless music file formats like FLAC. By using Free Rip, users may backup and convert their music collections into music files that they may store on their computers. Free Rip is also an audio file converter, which allows users to convert music files from one format to another.
Free Rip’s main interface offers three tools. The Ripper is the main tool used to rip CDs and convert them into music files. The Converter is used for converting music files between formats. The Tagger allows users to edit and add tags to the audio files. Upon program start, Free Rip will automatically scan and display the CD contents including tags on the left hand side of the interface. Info Tags box can be found on the right hand side, which contains the track info. Free Rip allows users to customize data fields on each audio file like specifying the Artist, Band, Year, etc. Users may also customize CD data on the CD Info tab next to the Track Info tab. There is an Options button that will allow users to customize program preferences. Users may also play the audio file before conversion.
