Citrix Receiver is a program that enables users to access different files and execute programs in a remote device. This program is capable of providing secure access to various documents, files, media, and programs located in a remotely connected computer, laptop, smart phone, or tablet PC. Citrix Receiver works through a virtual server that connects the two devices, enabling users to work using their files and programs from a remote location. This program also features a security feature that prompts users to input a username and password to be able to access these remote files and applications, thus preventing unauthorized users from making changes in the user’s main computer or from stealing important data located in that computer. Citrix Receiver connects client devices to XenApp and XenDesktop programs using the HDX protocol and the XenVault secure storage. Users may also choose to connect their client devices using the Citrix Access Gateway or other Citrix products.
Citrix Receiver would first prompt the user to connect their device using the client server. Users would need to input the store URL, the description, access gateway, gateway, address, and log-on type. After putting this information, Citrix Receiver would proceed to connect to the target device. Upon connection, users can view the virtual desktop and the programs and files currently accessible. Users may access various programs such as Microsoft Office applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, and MS Outlook, and other files and programs associated with the virtual desktop.
