Dragon NaturallySpeaking

Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a speech recognition application developed and published by Nuance Communications. It works by dictating the words to the program, which it will then transcribe the words to the current active window. The program offers three main functions – Dictation, Command Input and Text-to-Speech. Aside from having the speech transcribed into written text, the speech can also be converted into an audio stream. Issuing commands to the program and have it run these commands are possible is well.

The program features Repetitive Document-Creation or Streamline Complex Tasks. This function allows users to make voice commands used for streamlining and automating repetitive tasks. Creating macros of frequently used boilerplates, paragraphs, signatures, phrases and more is possible also. The program is mobile-ready as well, which allows the program to transcribe speech into any Nuance-supported mobile device. Syncing the program to any Nuance-supported Bluetooth devices is also possible.

The program also features the Dragon Voice Shortcuts for Calendar and Email. This feature is used for creating and addressing emails automatically. Setting up a group meeting is possible with this feature as well. There is also the Dragon Voice Shortcuts for Web Search, which is used for searching the Internet just by dictating words. Dragon NaturallySpeaking will use the computer’s default search engine for browsing the web. Searching from a specific website is also possible like Wikipedia, Google, eBay or Yahoo.
