AVS Video Recorder is a video transfer utility. Users are able to transfer video files from DV and MiniDV cameras on their computers for editing, burning, or sharing with friends. The videos can be saved as AVI or MPEG-2 files. The program also supports transferring of files from HD cameras, web cameras, and old VHS tapes. When transferring video files, users have the option to select the video output format. Other information will be displayed, too, such as the disk space that it will take up, the file name of the video, and many more.
AVS Video Recorder can easily be used by novice computer users, too. The program automatically detects connected devices that contain video files and selects it, making it ready for importing. The interface will provide a preview of the video. There are options above the preview file including Edit, Convert, Trim, Upload, Burn, and Play. Settings that can be changed include the audio codec, bit rate, sample rate, and the audio channels. There are also advanced device settings for advanced users.
The program also has a Scheduler feature. This tab can be seen on the application’s window. With the scheduler, users have the option to stop importing of a video at a certain point, or to divide the video into segments by setting specific time frames where the recording stops or starts.
