DVD Identifier is DVD management software with the primary purpose of interpreting and retrieving pre-recorded information recorded on disc media. This software was developed by Schoofs and released in February 2009. DVD Identifier supports several disc media including DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, and Blu-ray, among others. This program allows users to identify based on specific parameters all pertinent information in a specific disc.
DVD Identifier dialog box features a Windows-style tabbed interface. The disc drive drop down selector is located at the top portion of the interface under Drive Selection and Drive Write Capabilities. Below that are tick boxes that correspond to the different types of disc media. The tick boxes are colored green if the particular disk drive is capable of reading the disc media that correspond to them. The tabbed Disc Identification box shows the different types of disc media per tab—BD-R/-RE, HD DVD-R/RAM, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/-RW, and DVD-RAM. Specific parameters are mentioned including Unique Disc Identifier, Disc & Book type, Manufacturer Name, Media Type ID, Product Revision, Blanc Disc Capacity, and Recording Speeds. On the right side of the tabbed box are three buttons for Identify, Clipboard, and More Info. Another box at the bottom shows other information about the Disc Identifier as to Status, Drive Capabilities on this Disc, Media Code Block, and Additional Info.
