Protected Folder 1.2.0

Protected Folder is security software designed to secure files and folders by restricting access to the folder through password entry. Protected Folder was developed and released by IObit in November 2012.

Protected Folder works by restricting access to files and folders including Hide functionality, and denying Read or Write access. To secure a file or folder, right click on the selected file or folder and choose Protect. The Protected Folder user interface will launch and ask for a password to protect the file. Upon password entry, a single window display will show the selected folder. Clicking the folder will open the Options tab. Lock Options allow users to customize whether to hide, restrict read, or restrict write access. By default, all these restrictions are set to On. Change password tab allows users to modify the existing password for the selected file. Exclude List tab allows users to set folders and paths as excluded. Protected Folder also provides for recommended settings for the Exclude list. Users can also access the Options tab from the upper right corner.

To lock a file or folder, users have a choice to click the Add button on the top right of the interface or drag and drop a file in the window. To unlock a protected file, click the Unlock button at the bottom. When all files and folders are already added to the Protected Folder, click on Lock and Exit at the bottom right corner to exit the interface and secure the selected files.
