Warcraft II Battle.net Edition

Warcraft II Battle.net Edition (BNE) is a real-time strategy game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the Battle.net-enabled version of the second installment of Warcraft. It was first released on September 30, 1999 and it comes with a built-in Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal expansion. The game is almost the same as the original Warcraft II game.

Warcraft II BNE has two game modes – single player and multiplayer. The single player campaign mode follows the story of the battle between Humans and Orcs, where players can choose what campaign to play and which army to command. Players will play against AI opponents and the goal is to beat the opponents by establishing a camp, collecting resources and training an army to complete the missions.  The multiplayer mode allows players to play the game with other people instead of AI opponents. It supports multiple connection protocols including Direct Connect, Modem, IPX Network, TCP/IP and AppleTalk and Battle.net. Playing over Battle.net enables players to play from other players from other countries. It also has a worldwide ranking system used for testing the players’ Warcraft II BNE skills against comparable players. The multiplayer mode offers various templates including Melee, Free for All, One on One, Top vs. Bottom, Ladder and Use Map Settings.
