WinZip Self-Extractor is a program used for creating self-extracting Zip files for Windows. This program is mainly designed for large files that can be shared with several people online. The program is capable of creating two types of self-extracting ZIP files – standard or for installation. ZIP files that are used for installation offer a professional appeal when installing programs while the standard ZIP file is mostly used for images, videos, texts and the like. The program is considered as a companion to WinZip. Although the complete WinZip Self-Extractor is licensed separately, the WinZip program includes a Personal Edition of this application.

WinZip Self-Extractor features a wizard-like interface that guides users to the desired output. There are also several configuration options available when making a ZIP file. This enables users to customize the self-extracting files. For instance, users can enable it to span several removal disks if one disk is not enough. There is also an option to include text that will be displayed in the title or in a message box. Software installers created using this program can also run standard .INF file. Users may also include optional commands after unzipping the created ZIP file. The program also supports advanced encryption, additional compression method and English and German languages.
