Age of Empires III

Age of Empires 3, or AoE III, is a real-time strategy video game released on October 18, 2005. It was developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The game is the third entry in the Age of Empires game series. The game depicts the colonization of America by Europe. Players can choose from eight civilizations – Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, British, German, French, Ottoman and Dutch.

The game added a new feature called the Home City. This feature is a combination of strategic and RPG elements integrated in the game. The main elements in the game include buildings, units and technology. These elements affect how the chosen nation is doing in terms of development. The players’ progress is represented by the technological “Ages”. Each Age provides access to more upgrades, buildings and units. For instance, reaching the Colonial Age enables to player to unlock and use military units.

Age of Empires 3 features single-player and multiplayer modes. The single-player mode is story-driven consisting of related scenes with certain objectives. The game follows the story of a Black family and it is depicted in three Acts (Act I – Blood, Act II – Ice and Act III – Steel). The multiplayer mode can be played via the Internet or LAN. This mode is integrated into the interface of the game.
