Cabos is a gnutella file-sharing client developed by heavy_baby and was initially released in 2004. The program is based on the source code of LimeWire, while its user-interface is written using REALbasic. The program operates on Gnutella network, a peer-to-peer network. However, it also offers support for the Mojito DHT (Distributed Hash Table).
The program’s interface is also based on Limewire. They have similar looking interfaces. It displays the uploads, downloads, and networks straight from the main window. There is also a search bar, which can be used to search for files to be downloaded. Current searches made are also shown. The results list can also be organized according to certain parameters including file type, bitrate, artist, album, and others. The program also utilizes a filtering system, which can be used for filtering a specific search according to keywords. Other ways to filter a search are by bitrate, size, number of sources, and bitrate speed. Security features are offered in Cabos as well. It offers firewall to firewall transfers and TLS encryption. In addition, Cabos also provides IP2Country support and proxy transfer. There is also support for UPnP (Universal Plug and Play). Apple users can integrate iTunes with the program.
