FreeScreen Video Capture is an application that allows the user to capture an image or a video of the desktop. This program can be used for creating tutorials, demonstrations, and presentations. All videos are saved as MPEG4, DivX, and AVI format. The application is also capable of recording sounds coming from the computer or the system’s microphone, and also the mouse movements. The software has a small user interface with command buttons (record, pause, stop, and exit). Users can tweak the settings for the program by clicking on the Options button.

Under the recording options, users can change the region of the video, as well as the width and height of the video. Other video settings that can be changed are the quality of the video and the compressor used. Additionally, there are options for changing the audio settings including the compression format and the volume.

Users can also customize the application by changing the hotkeys for starting and stopping the recording process.
