IZotope RX is a set of tools which allows users to restore and repair audio. Audio repair is the process by which problems on the audio is improved and unwanted elements are removed. This includes removal of noises, hiss, buzz, hum, clicks and crackles, restoration of sliced audio, suppression of unwanted sounds, and recreation of deleted audio parts.
With iZotope RX’s main interface, users can use both eyes and ears in repairing audio. It includes a spectrogram which is a visual representation of the different frequencies on the audio recording. There are a variety of intuitive functions such as New Lasso, Brush and Magic Wands which users can utilize to fix audio problems seen using the spectrogram. There are a list of functions available on the left side of the main interface and includes Repair, Declick & Decrackle, Remove Hum, Denoise, Spectral Repair as well as tools for Gain, EQ, Channel Ops and Spectrum Analyzer. The kit is composed of a standalone application and other added smaller applications called plug-ins which the user can install as needed. Users can process multiple files simultaneously with the use of different audio repair tools within the kit. The application records edit history so changes made can be undone and compared. The application saves its sessions at multiple times during the work session so users will not lose the work.
