Adobe Media Player

Adobe Media Player is a media player application developed by Adobe Systems. It was initially released in April 16, 2007. The program is used to play downloaded, streamed, or locally stored online TV shows/podcast videos. The Adobe Media Player application is one of the programs created by Adobe Systems for the Adobe Air application. It implements advertisement viewing and uses DRM when playing videos offline and online.

The Adobe Media Player program offers a Catalog feature. This can be used to search for new online TV shows and podcasts from various media companies. Aside from playing personal videos, this program can also be used to download, manage, and stream video files.

The Adobe Media Player application has a feature called My Favorites. This feature can download new episodes of selected favorite TV shows and podcasts online. It can also manage and play new downloaded episodes from the list of favorite videos. Videos from the favorite list can also be played continuously. This media player also features Channel Preview. It can be used to control the viewing options of the videos. Setting up scaling options, resuming play and controlling keyboard functions is possible using the Channel Preview tool.

The Adobe Media Player application provides a status indicator on the downloaded/streamed videos. It indicates how much of the file has been streamed or downloaded. The status indicator also displays whether a video file has already been played or not. A set of preferences is also available for playback and video management.

On September 16, 2010, Adobe Systems announced that the Adobe Media Player program has been discontinued and will no longer be available for download.
