The player has to deposit the balls in the pockets to win the game. There are two widely-known formats of the game. The "eight-ball" is a format where the player has to deposit the eight ball in a pocket after all his assigned balls have been deposited. The "nine-ball" format is where the player has to deposit the nine ball after all the balls in the game have been previously deposited. Both formats are available in this computer game.
Billiards 2008 features 3D graphics with the game environment looking like the setting is on a billiard hall. The billiard table is displayed on the center. When it is the player's turn, he can choose to view the table in different angles. The pool table can be viewed just over the top of the cue stick or above the pool table itself. There is also the option to zoom the camera's position. The player has optional preferences as to how he wants to play the game. A "help" file is also available for directions in playing billiards. The current game can also be saved and then loaded at any given time.
