Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars – Director’s Cut is a video game remake of the first Broken Sword game, which was released in 1996. In this game, the player takes on the role of Nicole Collard and George Stobbart. Nicole is a journalist who was summoned in the Palais Royale. Her task is to interview Pierre Carchon, a French presidential candidate. Before she could interview him, the candidate is brutally killed. Collard investigates and soon meets Stobbart. The two of them unravel the mystery behind the killing and unearths a conspiracy behind a legend that has long been forgotten.
Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars - Director's Cut can be played in the third person. This means that the user can see the character while actions are being commanded to them. The game primarily lets the player control Stobbart, while Collard can be played in some of the stages in the game. Most of the actions in the game can be performed using the mouse; moving the character can be done by selecting the spot where the player must go. In-game objects can be used by clicking on them. There are also some puzzles that must be solved first before the player can advance to the next phase in the game's story.
