Beyond the Alley of the Dolls

Sam and Max Episode 304: Beyond the Alley of the Dolls is episode portion of the game Sam and Max: Season Three. In this game, the main characters are stuck in Stinky’s Diner. While in there, the characters have to defeat Sam’s clones, who have stolen an item called the Devil’s Toybox. Soon, Manhattan, the setting of the game, is full of clones that snatch toys. The characters must now unravel the mystery behind the appearance of these clones.

As an adventure game, majority of the game is played through mouse interaction with the game environment. The user can click anywhere on the screen. The player can click on hotspots to interact with characters and the environment. The game heavily features puzzle-solving elements, which must all be cleared before the player can continue the game. Unique to this episode (and the third season of this game) is the ability to inspect the items in the player’s inventory. There is also a notebook, upon which all information regarding the case can be collected. Max now has psychic powers that he can use. He only needs to find toys in order to use these powers. Players who wish to customize the control schemes can access the control options in the game’s menu.
