Smideo 2013

Ascora GmbH (Shareware)

Smideo is a program that lets users create slideshows from photos, videos, and music files. These files may be from the user’s own media library and may also be downloaded from the Internet. The program enables users to add customized titles and subtitles in the font type, size, and color of their choosing. It also features a keyword search function that lets users find photos on Flickr for use in their presentations.

To get started on a project, users will first create a Smideo library by filling it with the media files they would like to use in their presentation. Users can add media from their own folders, create screenshots and screencasts, record audio for narration, and download photos from Flickr and videos from YouTube. Next, the selected videos may be cut into shorter clips. After selecting the clips to be used, users can then arrange the photos and video clips according to how and when they want these to appear in the presentation. The next step allows users to add audio files. The audio screen is equipped with a sequencer and a timeline that lets users synchronize music with the slideshow’s transitions and length. In the final step, users choose a file name, the video resolution, and the video transition effect they would like to apply to their presentation.

Finished presentations may be saved and burned to a DVD disc in various formats including DivX and MPEG.
