FineReader is an optical character recognition (OCR) program. It converts scanned images and PDF files to different documents, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, HTML, CSV, text files, and other files that can be searched and edited. The program has four editions: Professional Edition, Corporate Edition, FineReader Online, and Express Edition for Mac.
One of the features of the program is phone camera OCR. There are instances wherein a camera phone is more convenient to use than a scanner. Users can take photos of documents using a camera phone and the program will be able to use that image to convert the photo to an editable and searchable file. A digital camera can be used, too. FineReader comes with ADRT (Adaptive Document Recognition Technology) that recreates the formatting, style, and elements of the document in a precise manner. This gives output that is 99.8% accurate. It is also capable of processing documents in 45 languages.
Here are more features of the FineReader application:
• Fast processing mode
• Retention of hyperlinks
• Automatic recognition
• Pre-defined profiles for PDF files
• Access for visually impaired users
FineReader is capable of processing PDF files that have signatures, line numbering, and company stamps. It also recognizes faxes, typewritten documents, inverted texts, and 1-D and 2-D barcodes.
