FL Studio is a music production suite developed by Image-Line. Initially released on December 18, 1997, the program offers the necessary tools to arrange, compose, edit, record and mix professional music. The program’s graphical user interface is based on a music sequencer. FL Studio is available in four different editions – Fruity Edition, FL Studio Express, Signature Bundle and Producer Edition. The developers offer a lifetime free updates.
FL Studio can edit and manipulate audio using various editing tools such as harmonization, pitch correction, pitch shifting, beat detection and much more. Chopping and beat slicing can also be done using this program. It can also automate all the plugins and most of the interface by drawing, recording and using spine-based automation curves. It also features multi-track audio recording, record & playback MIDI input recording, sequencing & arranging, synthesizer & effect plugin hosting and live music performance. Aside from functioning as a ReWire client, FL Studio can also be utilized as a VST instrument in other audio production suites. FL Studio features a mixer interface that lets users configure any number of channels. This permits mixing in 7.1, 5.1 or 2.1 surround sound. However, the output hardware interface must have an equal number of outputs in order to do this. FL Studio offers different generators (software synthesizers) and plugins including Edison, Fruity Video Players and Dashboard. It also supports 3rd party DirectX and VST plugins.
