ABBYY Screenshot Reader is a screenshot capturing program developed by ABBYY. It is powered by ABBYY Optical Character Recognition (PCR) technology, which is part of PDF and OCR conversion programs. The program lets users capture two types of screenshots – image and text.
Image Screenshots can be created and saved as images using this program. Users can capture selected area of the screen only, complete window or the whole desktop. An advanced function called Timed Screen is also available that lets you take screenshots with 5 seconds delay. Another main feature is the Text Screenshots. This allows users to convert text in a graphic file into editable texts, which can then be edited, saved or copied to other programs like Microsoft Word. ABBYY Optical Character Recognition (PCR) technology is used for converting texts from graphic images to editable ones.
ABBYY Screenshot Reader offers practical tools for taking screenshots. Its main screen lets users choose the location of the screenshot as well as the format. The program can also be set to run automatically at startup. The Screenshot Reader supports a variety of output formats. Text Screenshots can be saved as .rtf, .xls, .doc or .txt formats while Image Screenshots can be saved as .png, .bit or .jpeg formats. Screenshots captured from this program can be shared with other people via email or instant messaging client.
