Express Talk is a communications program that operates just like a virtual phone. It enables users to make calls to other users using their computers. Both computers must have the program installed in order to make calls. The application operates using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). It is easy to use even for novice computer users.

The program’s interface is simple. It has some buttons and menus on the top portion of the window. There is a number pad where users can dial phone numbers. On the right side of the window, there are buttons for speed dialing, microphone and volume control sliders, button for holding a call, transferring a call, conference, record, and mute. The application has a built-in phonebook allowing users to keep all their contacts in just one location. The phonebook consists of different information, such as first and last names, home phone numbers, work phone numbers, mobile phone numbers, and the email address.

The application can also be used with other computer peripherals, such as webcams, speakers, microphones, and headsets. It supports up to six telephone lines and has call quality improvement features, such as comfort noise, noise reduction, and echo cancellation. Express Talk also supports calling of emergency telephone numbers, such as 911.
