Driver: San Francisco is an action-adventure game. In this game, players take the role of the protagonist named John Tanner, a detective who is tasked to find and take down the antagonist, crime lord Charles Jericho. As the name suggests, the game is set in San Francisco, where Charles Jericho is said to have been conducting his operations. Players are given missions that will take them to five different neighborhoods and other locations in San Francisco.
Missions include high-speed pursuits; each successful mission will bring Tanner closer to Jericho. There are ten different missions to accomplish. Gameplay consists of a number of modes, including a timed mode, a survivor mode, and a free ride mode. In the latter option, players use their GPS device in order to find the challenges and go on unique missions.
One of the highlights of Driver: San Francisco is that it allows players to change vehicles at any point throughout the game when a certain number of points is reached. There are over a hundred licensed vehicles to choose from, each with a unique handling. The game’s multiplayer mode enables two players to take part in pursuits via split screen. The online multiplayer version of the game offers players 19 game modes, such as Tag, Trailblazer, and Cops & Robbers.
