Free Word Excel Password Wizard is a tool that allows users to retrieve passwords for Microsoft Word and Excel documents. It has a wizard interface, which makes it easier to use for beginners. On the main window, users must select the file to unlock by clicking on the “Browse” button. Once the file is chosen, users can choose from two forms of attack for recovering the password. In Dictionary Attack, the application tries to look for the password by trying out different words that are taken from the dictionary. In Brute Force Attack, the application tries out all character combinations to find the password. The latter approach takes more time to complete.

Under the Dictionary Attack mode, users can use a word list that may contain the password. There are also recovery options, such as title case, lower case, upper case, and plural. Under Brute Force Attack, users can select a character set from the drop down menu and set the password length to make it faster for the program to find. After all the settings have been configured, the application starts searching for the password. The recovery process can be paused and resumed at a later time as well.
