Episode 205 - What's New, Beelzebub?

Sam & Max Episode 205: What's New, Beelzebub? is an adventure game developed by the company, Telltale Games. The plot of the game is a continuation of its predecessor, “Chariots of the Dogs”, wherein the soul of Bosco the shopkeeper has gone to Hell and the main characters visit him and attempt to convince Satan to let him go. When they arrive in Hell, however, they discover that Hell is very similar to a dreary office, which is staffed by characters that have died in the previous episodes.

The episode kicks off with the two protagonists in a subway tunnel along the banks of the River Styx. They are intent on finding a token that will allow them to take the train to Hell. The office setting used to symbolize Hell is filled with humorous references that include “motivational” posters of the seven deadly sins and a sexual harassment gag. Players can visit Sam and Max’s old enemies in their own cubicles, which are all found in a single office wing. In order to advance in the game, the player must visit the characters and find a way to lessen their suffering. Numerous puzzles must be solved in each location in order to gain access to Bosco and bring him back above ground.
