Recuva is a data recovery application first released in August 7, 2007 by Piriform. It is used for recovering data files from the Windows computer, digital camera card, USB flash drives, Recycle Bin or even MP3 players. It works on both NTFS and FAT file systems. The program offers two types of scan – Default Quick Scan and Deep Scan. The Default Scan runs through the hard drive within seconds for deleted files while the Deep Scan runs through your hard drive longer and deeper helping you find more files buried deep within your computer.
Recuva is used for recovering files from formatted or damaged disks. The program scans the entire drive to look for the components of your files. If the drive’s index is already damaged as well as its parts, Recuva will provide a list of the files. It will also show you the percentage of the likelihood of recovering the files. The program is also capable of recovering deleted emails if you are using a desktop email program like Windows Live Mail or Outlook Express. Recovering music tracks and unsaved Microsoft Word documents is also possible with this program. Recuva can also protect your system through its “Secure Overwrite” feature that deletes your files forever. This will safeguard your computer from possible abuse.
