Alexander Roshal (Shareware)

WinRAR is a data compression and decompression tool used for archive managing. It was first released in 1993. WinRAR can turn multiple files into one single compressed file allowing users to backup data and reduce the size of files for email attachments and storage. WinRAR also decompresses archived files and supports multiple non-RAR compression formats like ZIP, Z, 7-Zip, BZIP 2, ISO, ARJ, ACE, Gzip, CAB, and TAR. Its compression algorithm is useful for multimedia files, executable files, large texts, and object libraries.

WinRAR also allows archives to be split into separate volumes. Splitting archives is useful when saving data on multiple disks. Adding archives and file comments is possible, too. For security purposes, you can set a password on your compressed file when you send it to someone over the internet. WinRAR is also capable of repairing broken archives that have become damaged through some file sharing processes.

WinRAR’s utilizes a simple user interface. It allows dragging and dropping files into the program to create archives and do other actions. Common actions and options like Add (files), Extract To, Test, View, Delete, and Find are easily accessible at the top in form of big icons. Drop-down menus display the program’s more advanced options and features
