Adobe Extension Manager is a program used for downloading, installing, and managing extensions in Adobe products including Flash, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Fireworks, Contribute, and Prelude. It was developed and published by Adobe Systems, Inc. The program also offers detailed information regarding the extensions being installed. Adobe Extension Manager offers an exclusive link to Adobe Extension website as well where Adobe users may find, rate, and search for information regarding the extension. However, the program only shows the extensions installed via the Extension Manager program. Extensions downloaded and installed via third-party installers are not shown. The program is installed with the Adobe applications automatically.
Adobe Extension Manager can be used to update extensions as well. Once the program identifies an outdated extension, it will prompt the user to update the extension through the Update icon. Checking for updates can be automatically performed after launching the program. Aside from this, the program can also be used to sort extensions, enable/disable extensions, and delete extensions. Configuring extensions (i.e. renaming or creating) is possible as well. Users may also use the program to switch extension sets as well as import/export extensions. Aside from this, Adobe Extension Manager is also used for packaging extensions before submitting it to the Adobe website. Packaged extensions can also be tested using the program.
