Adobe InDesign CS5 is a program initially released in 1994 by Adobe Systems Inc. It is used for creating different design projects including brochures, posters, magazines, flyers, newspapers, and books. InDesign is also used for publishing content compatible with tablet devices with the help of Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. The application also supports export to SWF and EPUB format for creating digital publications.
InDesign CS5 can be integrated with other Adobe application including Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash Professional, and Acrobat. Creating page layouts can be done using InDesign. It features recently used fonts, text fame fitting options, multiple page sizes, Hunspell dictionary enhancements, drag-and-drop support as well as document-installed fonts. InDesign CS5 also offers splits/spans columns, built-in creative tools, object selection/editing and adobe mini-bridge. Users can take advantage of the program’s Adaptive Design Tools for repurposing page layouts to screen sizes, page sizes, devices, and orientations without compromising the project’s typography/design.
InDesign CS5 can also be used for creating eBooks with tools/features available in the program. This includes Interactive HTML, embedded video/audio in eBooks, articles panel, dynamic image resizing, and styles mapped to tags in EPUB export. Aside from creating eBooks, InDesign CS5 is also used for creating publications for tablet devices. Users can utilize the program’s Liquid Layout, Alternate Layout, Content Collector Tools, as well as Linked content for creating publications that can be integrated with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.
