Adobe Photoshop 5.0 5.0.2

Adobe Systems, Inc. (Proprietary)

Adobe Photoshop 5.0 is an image and a raster graphics-editing program created and published by Adobe. This version was first released in May 1998. This application is used mainly for creating, manipulating, and editing graphics images. However, it also provides tools for editing photos.

Photoshop 5.0 provides several improvements. It also made some fixes on several issues on previous releases. One of these improvements is in the Auto-Kerning Text function, wherein the Type tool now uses the proper kerning values. The program also provides a new anti-aliasing algorithm, which is capable of creating texts that closely correspond to proper letter spacing and forms. This version also made some modifications on the DCS file output. This modification enables QuarkXPress to print the spot channels correctly. Another change in this version is that Windows NT users that do not have administrative privileges are now capable of printing and accessing color settings.

Adobe Photoshop 5.0 also made some changes in the color management function. It now includes a Color Management Wizard. This feature offers users guidance when configuring the color management settings. The default settings for color management have also been changed preventing untagged RGB files to be converted to sRGB automatically. Aside from this, this version also changed the name of the RGB color space and is now named Adobe RGB.
