Bel Atout 5.13

Vincent Brevart (Freeware)

Bel Atout has four versions of the French card game Belote. The game allows the user to compete against the computer in Classic, Tournament, Modern, and Contract Belote modes. The game includes a help function and rules for all variations on the Belote Card game.

Belote is a French game that uses 32 cards. The game uses Aces, Kings, Queens, Jacks, 10s, 9s, 8s, and 7s. The game is played by two teams of two players each but in this version, the user is paired with the computer. The team players are given designations of North, South, East, and West and the game played counterclockwise. The deck of cards is not shuffled but cut by the player who precedes the card dealer. The deck is then distributed counterclockwise from the dealer’s right. Each player receives three cards and another set of two cards. The remaining cards are left face-down.  The players then bid clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades, no trumps, and all trumps. Each player bids higher, doubles or re-doubles, or passes..

The user interface allows the user to customize the deck of cards, voices, and sounds. Game rules can be toggled open so the user can view and study how the game is played.
