Boxoft Free OCR is an application used for extracting text from images and documents. It supports extraction of different languages including English, Spanish, German, French, and Italian among others. With this program, users can get text from PDF documents, scanned files and papers, newspaper clippings, and many other extraction tasks. The program is easy to use, as extracting text can be done in just one click.
The program’s main window displays three steps on how to use the program. The steps are located at the upper portion of the window. Users can add an image by clicking the “Add Image” button. There is also a “Scan” button that allows users to scan papers and import them directly to the application. Users then have to select the language of the text to extract. There is an option to select parts of the image to extract or the entire text found on the image. Users can also zoom in and out of the image from the main window. The last step is to save the text that was extracted, which can be done by clicking on the “OCR and Save” button at the upper right side of the window. Extracted text can be saved as a ZIP or TXT file.
