Canon Utilities Viewer is a processing and management application for some of Canon’s digital camcorders and cameras. It was created specifically for Canon digital SLR (DSLR) cameras. This application facilitates the search, conversion, and viewing of images by integrating tools such as a file viewer utility and raw image converter.
The work of the file viewer utility is to process raw files. Since camera manufacturers normally use proprietary formats for their raw files, raw image converting programs should support such formats. Canon Utilities Viewer enables the processing of RAW images into 8-bit JPEGs or TIFF files and 16-bit TIFF files to make them readable by other imaging applications. Canon Utilities Viewer supports the following cameras: EOS-1D, EOS-1DS, EOS 10D, EOS D60, EOS d30, PowerShot G1 up to G3, PowerShot S30 up to S50, EOS Digital Rebel, and more.
The viewer utility downloads RAW and JPEG files from these EOS (Electro-Optical System) DSLRs then converts the raw images. Users may also use the file viewer utility to manage their image files. It can also be used to perform a broad range of adjustments to RAW files. Such adjustments involve parameters for image processing, including color matrix and white balance settings, edge enhancement, compensation for digital exposure, sharpness of subject pattern, and so on.
