CardRecovery is a multimedia recovery program developed by WinRecovery Software. It is used for recovering media files stored in memory cards used in phones or digital camera. The program is capable of recovering deleted, formatted, lost or corrupted images, audios and videos. It supports almost all types of memory cards such as Compact Flash (CF), Secure Digital (SD), Memory Stick, MicroSD, SmartMedia and more. The program uses the SmartScan technology for locating and restoring files. It only performs Read-only tasks to ensure that the data on the memory card will not be moved, deleted or modified. It will only restore the images, music and movies from the memory card and then saves them to the specified location.

The program’s interface is straightforward. It only takes three steps to complete the recovery process. The first step is to choose the Drive Letter, Camera Brand and File Type and Destination Folder. The available File Types are Photos, Movies/Video Clips and Sound/Audio Clips. It is possible to choose more than one file types. After selecting these parameters, the program will now start scanning the selected memory card. The Scan Progress tab displays Drive Letter, Storage Size, Sectors Scanned, Estimated Completion, Bad Sectors and File Found. The final step is previewing and choosing the files to be recovered. Users have the option to choose all or some of the selected recoverable files.
