DiskGenius, now named Partition Guru, is a file recovery tool that enables users to restore files and folders that had been lost through system crashes and virus attacks or deleted by mistake. It can also recover lost partitions and assist users in managing and backing up disk partitions. This application can also create image files of the computer’s partitions and files as backup. This tool comes in handy in situations when users accidentally deleted files from the disk or a portable device such as a memory card and USB thumb drive. Files may also be lost when the device they are stored in is reformatted, or when the file system becomes corrupted.

DiskGenius has the following tools:

• Recover files – this application can restore files lost due to system crashes, partition formatting, partition deletion, bad partitions, and accidental deletion.
• Check, recover, and backup partitions – this tool can check the system for partition errors and recover lost partitions. Users can also create a backup of their partition table. The backup is saved to an image file that allows users to restore their partitions easily.
• Disk management – users can format their hard disks, create partitions, and set the primary and logical drives.
• Check and fix sectors – this utility can also check the disk for errors and repair bad sectors to improve system performance.
