Emergency 2012: The Quest for Peace is the fifth title in the Emergency series of real-time strategy games. The game was first released in 2010. Players get experience controlling four different types of response units – engineers, police, paramedics, and firemen.
There are 12 missions to complete in the Campaign mode. The different emergency scenarios are spread throughout locations in Europe. Big emergencies require players to come up with strategies that will keep the citizens safe from harm. The player must manage the members of the team in order to come up with the best solution when handling the emergency. In Free Play mode, players get the chance to choose one of the three cities. Each city has its own climate and various emergencies are presented to the player. Free play has sub-modes, too. In Endless mode, players get points by finishing missions. Challenge mode is similar to Endless mode, but the missions get harder as the game progresses.
The base of operations is located the headquarters in the city. All the vehicles for emergencies are parked there. Vehicles, as well as the members of the team, have health points. The player can lose members and vehicles can break down with use. Players can purchase or upgrade the vehicles, too. Managing in-game money is also essential as the city only provides limited budget.
