Fireworks is a vector graphics editor program developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated. Formerly known as Macromedia Fireworks, the program is initially created using some parts of Macromedia xRes. The program is particularly developed for web designers for designing website application interfaces and prototypes to be integrated with certain Adobe products like Adobe Flash and Adobe Dreamweaver.
Adobe Fireworks features hierarchical layers in graphic files accessible from the program’s Layers panel. This feature assists layer management especially when a complex project is comprised of increasing multiple layers. The program also offers smart guides, which resembles a real ruler that assists in content placement, drawing and image positioning. Several guides may be used simultaneously. To make sure that rounded rectangles keep their “roundness”, Adobe Fireworks has a 9-slice scaling. Images can also be optimized and compressed with the program’s Image Optimization feature. Adobe Fireworks also offers “states” as well, which are previously called frames. Aside from animation purposes, states can also be used for defining behaviors with regards to symbol buttons such as down, over and up. Extracting CSS elements and values are also possible with the program’s CSS Properties panel. After getting the code, the codes can be transferred to other programs like Adobe Dreamweaver and other HTML editors. Adobe Fireworks also has jQuery Mobile theme skinning support that lets designers manage jQuery themes for mobile apps and websites.
