FontExpert 2011 is an application used for managing Adobe PostScript, TrueType, and OpenType fonts. It enables users to preview, as well as manage uninstalled and installed typefaces and detect font errors. Fonts can be searched from DVDs, CDs, network drives, and local disks. Fonts located in the Psfonts folder and Windows fonts can be searched and controlled as well. Font management includes filtering, sorting, copying, deleting, moving, deactivating, activating, and previewing fonts. Fonts may be added to a list made by the user for future use.
Program interface is clean and layout is intuitive. Detailed information that are provided regarding fonts include TrueType tables, name, copyright, type foundry, family style, ID, Panose attributes, character set, and font kerning pairs. A list is provided that displays information such as font properties, font samples that can be customized, and font faces that have been installed. The Tags function enables users to specify categories, captions, ratings, and keywords. Incomplete and corrupted fonts are detected, while duplicate fonts are located and managed. Adding fonts is done by a drag and drop function in Windows Explorer. HTML Web albums can be created using font faces that are made into BMP, TIFF, JPG, GIF, and PNG images. Typeface conflicts can be solved and missing fonts’ records can be removed using the function that detects font problems.
