FOTONICA is an excitement-filled game about jumping and running. It offers gamers a true sense of speed, timing, and discovery. The main objective of the game is to travel through the given virtual environment smoothly and flawlessly. In order to do this, the player must hold the appropriate button in order to affect the right action. The environment that the player must traverse is a duotone, abstract, outlined world. The virtual environment is an homage to the 3D low-poly gaming era of the 1950s. It can be characterized as an environment of geometrical abstractions at best.
The interface of FOTONICA consists of a one-button control. It is a challenging and stimulating first-person game that allow movements such as jumping, running, and by holding a button, the movement is held high in mid-air prior to a soft and accurate landing. There are five levels to explore. An additional level that is an endless procedurally generated level may be explored as well. There are 10 achievements for the player to unlock.
A split-screen mode is available for two players. Game statistics are provided. FOTONICA is available to Mac users as well as PC and Linux computers. Additionally, it features seven music tracks of high quality audio. This curious game was developed by Santa Ragione was released in December 2013.
