The player must give order to troops and lead them in battle from the Pacific Theater to Tarawa Atoll. The game has 25 levels with eight maps. Players can choose from four game modes – Free For All, Round-based Match, Invader, and Team Match.
Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault has a Boot Camp level where players can learn the basics of the game. In this level, the player can learn the commands and how to use the different weapons. The character must also complete an obstacle course and shoot weapons at the firing range.
In some parts of the game, players must navigate through locations alone. There are also some instances where the character can get help from troops to complete missions. As a Private, the character can give commands to troops, such as open fire, retreat, regroup, or advance. The squad members’ skills improve as more missions are completed.
