Railroad Lines is a game that simulates the operation of trains. Players are given control of different types of trains and their goal is to accomplish the various missions laid out by the game. There are 20 train engines players can use, including freight trains and high-speed passenger trains. There are camera modes so players can view the simulation from different angles. The game is set in modern times but in different environments and weather conditions that affect how a train will run.

The game has a simple and easy-to-use interface so both novice players and advanced railroad hobbyists will be able to play. Players start the game with a certain number of points, which can be used to create trains or buy new train carriages. Each train type is adapted to the task at hand, and players can only manage the given trains for each mission. As the game progresses and the players accomplish the given tasks, players are awarded points. Once the target number of points is reached, players can advance to the next level and location.

In Railroad Lines, players can customize how they want their trains and carriages to look like. The points earned can be used to improve train units or the railroad lines to make transport faster and easier.
