readiris

Readiris is an optical character recognition (OCR) application for home and business user. The program converts paper, PDF files, and images into digitized and editable text. It has a built-in multi-core OCR engine that makes sure the conversions are fast and accurate. Converted documents can be uploaded to a cloud storage service for sharing with other users and to make it available anywhere. Supported cloud storage services are Evernote, Google Docs, Dropbox, and Box.net. The application supports conversion of scanned documents, files in popular image formats, and PDF files. It supports more than 30 output formats.

Readiris has a scanning wizard that recognizes images from camera phones and digital cameras. The program retains the formatting of texts. Output is sure to look the same as the original files. The program also has some simple editing tools for merging files into one PDF file, deleting pages from the document, and reducing the size of images and PDF files. Picture enhancement tools included in the program improve the image quality of the source for high quality output. These enhancement tools include despeckle, page orientation detection, color improvement and more.
