SimCity Classic for Windows is a simulation game that was first released in 1989. In the game, players assume the role of a mayor and they get to build and develop their own city. Players have complete control over the city and add different land zones including residential, industrial, and commercial. Players also have to take care of transportation for the citizens, add a power grid, and change the tax rate for the city. There are various scenarios provided and players must complete goals. Some of them include creating a mass transportation system, reduce crime in the city, rebuild a city, and many others.
Aside from the scenarios presented to the user, the city may also face various types of natural disasters, such as fires, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes. There are even instances when the city becomes attacked by monsters and aliens. Players start out with a small amount of money that needs to be used wisely to develop the city. As the city grows, the player may get more money depending on the decisions made. The game does not end and there is no way to win it. Developing the city can be an ongoing process until the player decides to build a new city.
