SimpPro is a security program developed by French company Secway Global. The program is an instant messaging companion software, which enables users to send instant messages securely. The program supports several instant messaging vendors including Yahoo! Messenger, AIM, Jabber, MSN Messenger, ICQ, and Google Talk. The program encrypts all outgoing messages from the user’s computer when using the supported messaging programs. Protected messages can be personal messages or group messages. The program is useful whether in a personal or business setup.
SimpPro also supports secure file transfers from ICQ/AIM and MSN Messenger, and vice versa. Received encrypted files are automatically decrypted. This avoids setting false alarms with the antivirus protection installed in the system. The program also offers secure saving and storing of conversations. Users can choose to store message threads or archives in an encrypted format to deter unwelcome readers. Encrypted files may be accessed using a password. It may be viewed under the Log Index tab when the proper password is supplied. The Recorder function is supported by all instant messaging vendors. Enabling or disabling the function can be done through the UI.
SimpPro supports two types of algorithms—symmetrical and asymmetrical. The first one is used for message encryption and includes 3DES, AES, Twofish, Serpent, and CAST. The second one deals with key agreement and password authentication. This includes RSA, ElGamal, and Elliptic Curves algorithms.
