SplitFile is a simple application that allows users to split files into shorter segments and into smaller file sizes to make these more manageable. The program can be used for joining files as well. On the main window, there are two big buttons labeled Split and Join. Users must choose one of the options before the program displays the settings for either task. The application comes with predefined sizes for floppy disks, zip disks, CDs, DVDs, and HADDVDs. However, users can also choose to create a custom size for the split file. The main window also allows users to select a file from the hard drive and choose the output file location for the split file.
Other options available on the interface include the size of each file and the number of parts it will be split into, as well as the unit for display (bytes, KB, MB, GB, or TB). There is a menu for the job priority as well as options for merging for both Unix and Windows systems. After configuring the settings, users can just click on the “Split” button to start the process. The SplitFile program is simple and easy to use even for those who are not computer savvy.
