The translation process allows users to identify the display name of the SID which can be vital in running various computer programs safely. It can also work the other way around and get the SID details from a selected display name. A clearer description of an SID is an identifier that serves as an access pass for the users of a particular computer resource. Think of it as a membership card.

When it comes to the Sysinternals PsGetSid application, it can function not only with local accounts but also with built-in and domain accounts. The authority level or access abilities of SIDs are also searched for and displayed by Sysinternals PsGetSid upon command execution. The user simply has to enter the search parameters if he wishes to get the details of several SIDs and not the entire generated list.
