Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent is a game in the action stealth genre, released in 2006 for Windows users. It is part of the series of games based on the novels of Tom Clancy, in which Sam Fisher plays the major role. In this game, players must stop a terrorist attack by acting as a double agent: as a member of a terrorist group, and as an agent of the NSA or the National Security Agency. The player is tasked to infiltrate the terrorist organization in its US headquarters while keeping his cover as a black-ops agent under the Third Echelon division of the NSA.
Users can play in single-player (first-person view) and multiplayer (third-person view) mode. Players are challenged to make difficult decisions: when too many terrorists within the organization are killed, the identity of the player as a double agent may be exposed; when the player hesitates to stop the organization, millions of innocent people will die. Players are given missions to complete using different weapons and gadgets that are issued to agents of the NSA. Players also get access to terrorist weapons obtained through the black market.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent has versions for gaming consoles such as the Xbox, Nintendo Wii, and PlayStation 2. It also has a version developed for mobile phones.
