Total Recorder Standard Edition is an audio recording program created by High Criteria, Inc. It offers basic audio functionalities. It offers support for uncompressed/compressed audio formats including WMA, RIFF-WAV, FLAC, APE and more. The program can record different types of audio and from various sources. It can record streaming audio/local audio files and Internet broadcasts with different options available such as accelerated recording for faster recording or suppress Internet transmission gaps. The Standard edition also has the ability to record Voice over IP or Internet-telephone conversations. This feature is available when using other applications such as Yahoo! Voice, Google Talk, Skype and the like.

Total Recorder (Standard edition) can record any audio that passes through any of the sound card’s line such as external software, CD/DVD player, radio and others. The program also offers the Recording Wizard, which can be used to customize the program’s settings based on what kind of sound is going to be recorded. Aside from recording, this edition can also be used to convert different audio formats. Creating and editing file tags is possible as well. There’s also a feature to normalize audio recording for adjusting sound level. The application also features a built-in scheduler for scheduling audio recording and playbacks. Exporting/importing scheduled tasks and configuration settings is available as well. Lastly, the program can also perform general playlist tasks such as adding files, renaming files and saving a playlist.
